Tomorrow will mark the end of another year of fine pistol competition at Camp Perry. As in recent years it looks like the National Title will go down to either Philip Hemphill or Brian Zins. At this time, with no scores official, Hemphill has a 3-point lead to Zins. Hemphill is right now at 1774-90X and Zins sits at 1771-96X.
I was at the 2007 NPSC awards banquet when Hemphill won his billionth (slight sarcasm) NPSC title. While at the podium, giving his acceptance speech, Hemphill talked about retiring from NPSC competition to focus on beating Zins at Camp Perry. With that said -- and I have the utmost respect for Zins -- we may see Hemphill win his first National Pistol Championship at Camp Perry tomorrow. Though, with Camp Perry, I wouldn't bet my house on that prediction. In other news, John Haller is shooting a 1464-20X.
