Veteran Volunteer.
Guardian of the Trophies.
Dedicated defender of the 2nd Amendment.
New York's Pierce Johnson could be called any of the above. He first heard about the possibility of volunteering at Perry through an ad in American Rifleman almost 40 years ago. He responded to that ad and has been a part of Camp Perry for the past 38 years, placing him in the handful of people who have received their 35th year lapel pin.
For most of his years at Perry he has been the watchman of the trophies -- no small feat, considering their combined value is an estimated one million dollars. Asked if he has a favorite, he is quick to reply: the Leech Cup (pictured). "It's such a beauty. I can only imagine what it looked like right after it was engraved."
Thanks for your service, Pierce, and keep up the good work!
