National Fullbore Rifle Prone Championships

The Spirit of America Match — the National Fullbore Rifle Prone Championships — is currently taking place at the George Tubb Range at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico. The NRA is the national governing body of fullbore target rifle shooting.

The National Championship started last Sunday with the Cunico Tire Service Team Match. Each team is made up of four firing members. A Team Captain and Coach is needed and those two are allowed to be apart of the four firing member team. There are two sighting shots and then 10 shots for record at 300, 500, 600, and 900 yards.

The Bald Eagle Rifle Club has some results posted from the Cunico Match. The Bald Eagles O’Connell edged USA Blue by one point. Felix Solis, Eddie Newman, Mike Dunia and John Gaines combined to shoot a 1589-83X for B.E. O’Connell.

USA Blue finished with 1588-95X. That team is made up of Bryan Litz, Jorge Puignau, Trudie Fay and Robert Gustin.

USA Red finished in third place with a score of 1586-87X. Lane Buxton, Justin Skaret, Sandra Pagel, and Noma Mayo make up USA Red.

A total of 29 teams competed in this match. There were also some teams from the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
