The New Mexico Challenge is underway. Match Director Marc Lipp estimates more than 100 officers will compete in the match with two relays of approximately 50 competitors each. I counted almost a dozen female competitors on the line during the first relay just minutes ago.
I was surprised to see the first part of the relay take place from only three yards away. The photos posted are from seven yards.
The competitors pictured in all black are cadets fresh out of the Academy. As can be expected, they're taking a bit of ribbing from older officers on the line.
Lipp didn't have any predictions on the match. "It's a wide open field," Lipp said. "Anyone can win it."
