Underwood wins again

Jonathan C. Underwood won for the second-straight day as the Precision Shooting Individual Match was fired yesterday. It was the fourth day of the National Fullbore Rifle Prone Championships. The Bald Eagles Rifle Club sponsors the national championship.

Underwood finished with a score of 447-24X. Underwood won the OK Weber Individual on Monday.

Competitors shoot targets from four different distances: 300, 500, 600, and 1,000 yards. There are 15 shots for record at 1,000 yards while 10 shots are fired for record at each of the other distances.

Mike Dunia finished in second with 446-22X.

Justin Skaret and Sandra Pagel each finished with a score of 445-22X. I’m not exactly sure on the tie breaking procedure with fullbore but if it’s like Camp Perry then they take the higher score from the furthest match shot. That would have been the 1,000-yard match. Skaret shot a 148-5X while Pagel shot a 146-4X, which gave Skaret the third-place finish. Pagel finished as the high woman.

Other special individual awards include High Senior, Boyd Goldsby, 445-25X and High Grand Senior, John Gaines, 443-20X.

Today they are shooting the Sierra Bullets Team Match.
